Perhaps your personal solution to having a cheaper car is not to buy your OWN car at all. By joining a car sharing network you get access to a number of vehicles - often of different types like cars, vans and trucks - and pay only when you need them.

This is a perfect solution for those of us that don't need a car for everyday commuting or ferrying of kids or work tools but need one occassionally for a weekend getaway, moving day or when out-of-town visitors are to be toured round the city. Yes it requires a shift in thinking and some pre-planning but considering the cost - both monetary and environmental - of individual car ownership isn't it an idea whose time has come? Check out the list to see if there is a carshare organization in your town - and if there isn't one perhaps you should start one!

The site named above has fairly recent updates and the US site (www.zevcat.com) also now has a 2007 copyright date. Check out this novel idea whose time has come.
